We’re thrilled to present our cookbook—FEAST: Recipes and Stories from a Canadian Road Trip—published March 7, 2017 with Appetite by Random House and winner of Taste Canada’s Gold Award in the Regional/Cultural Cookbooks category!
Feast is a collection of recipes, stories, and photography that tells the story of our five month journey across Canada in 2013. This book is one big collaboration between ourselves and dozens of talented chefs, cooks, producers, home cooks, and others from across the country. We shared a more in-depth overview of our writing process here.
The book features:
114 recipes, 87 of which were contributed by food producers, chefs, bakers, and home cooks from across Canada. The remaining 27 recipes were developed by us, and point to an ingredient/region we discovered, or a food experience we had on the road.
13 two-page spreads dedicated to each province and territory + hundreds of stories from across Canada.
The inimitable designs of C.S. Richardson, who managed to capture the diversity of Canadian food and landscape in a cover that feels modern, anchored in history, and distinctly Canadian. Read about our cover process here.
All of our own photography, which came at great cost to our mental health but was totally worth it! A big thank you to our friend Jillian for her help.
A mix of accessible and special occasion food. You’ll find plenty of recipes you can whip up easily after work, as well as a few that are perfect for weekend dinner parties.
